    Colin has over 30 years’ experience in the systems engineering and project delivery of complex multidisciplinary infrastructure systems. From 2018 to 2022 he led the technical and engineering teams at Crossrail, accountable for the design, site engineering, testing. systems integration and assurance.

    His career started in 1991 with British Rail, leading maintenance teams on the Kent side of the new Channel Tunnel and then in the Midlands. He then held leadership roles on major rail projects followed by stints in other industries including banking, digital TV and IT systems. He then spent ten years as an Engineering Director, first for Westinghouse Rail Systems (now Siemens) and then Thales Transportation.

    Since 2010, he has supported international clients with project management and engineering leadership, technical advice, and capability development. This included assignments with major rail projects as well as advisory support to the Royal Navy.

    In 2011 he co-founded the charity which to date has installed over 100 wells in rural community schools across east Africa.

    Colin also continues to be actively involved in coaching senior engineering leaders and young graduate engineers alike.

    Chris Binns has worked on the Crossrail project since July 2015.  He is the Chief Engineer for the Crossrail Programme providing engineering technical leadership through a team of Heads of Disciplines, and Managers of Engineering.     As the Crossrail engineering technical authority, Chris provides leadership of the engineering function including Rail Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Systems, Architecture and Civil Engineering.   The engineering function, through the Technical Assurance Plan, assures that the Crossrail project delivers a Safe, Operable, Maintainable and high-Performing Railway in accordance with the Sponsor’s requirements.

    Chris was previously the Head of Engineering for Network Rail’s Thameslink Programme from 2008 until July 2015 delivering technical assurance of the upgrade of the North – South interconnection through London.

    Hayat Zerkani PhD BSc CEng MIET

    Hayat Zerkani PhD BSc CEng MIET - Crossrail Ltd

    Hayat Zerkani is the Head of System Safety & Interoperability at Crossrail. She is responsible for delivering System Safety Assurance and Interoperability compliance for the Elizabeth Line Central Operating Section. Hayat gained her PhD from Sheffield University in Control Engineering. She has been in the railway industry for 23 years, initially in consultancy with Mott MacDonald and Praxis working in projects worldwide then in Transport for London for the last 18 years. She has been seconded to Crossrail since May 2016.

    Nduka Ezediuno

    Nduka Ezediuno - Crossrail Ltd

    Nduka Ezediuno is the current Head of Reliability of London’s brand-new Elizabeth line and is responsible for ensuring effective Reliability Growth Management in improving reliability performance of the line.

    Nduka joined the Crossrail Programme in December 2018 undertaking a number of key roles including Senior Business Manager for the Technical Directorate as well as becoming a member of the Crossrail Senior Executive team whilst covering as Chief of Staff. A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Nduka began his career in the steel industry prior to a stint in the automotive industry, before joining Transport for London in 2014.
