Best Practice Guides were produced in collaboration with Crossrail’s Tier 1 contractors and other industry specialist bodies e.g. the Fire Protection Association. Guides were produced in response to specific project activities and were aimed at raising health and Safety standards through the sharing of knowledge and experience of the companies working on the programme.

This document is intended to provide guidance on the consistent application of control measures to be used on Crossrail sites in the management of exclusion and restriction zones around active working areas in tunnels employing the Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) methodology. This guidance document has been prepared following discussions within CRL, with the SCL contractors and with the designers working on the project.

This document is relevant to those undertaking sprayed concrete lining activities during any tunneling, excavation or other construction work.
